Train Ride to Nowhere
Within hours of arriving in Forsayth we had the locals eating out of our hands, their long tongues reaching for unripe mangoes plucked from a tree. The brown cow came first, then a ton of Brahman bull. The rest of the herd soon joined the breakfast feast. A dozen or so mango-munching cows and seventy people live in this tiny town 300km south-west of Cairns, their quiet life very different from last century's comings and goings.
