It may be the "capital" of Spain's sunshine coast, but Malaga lacks the tawdriness that attracts so many people to this part of the Mediterranean. There are no endless shopping arcades or plastic Irish pubs and most of the coffee drinkers in the cafes are Andaluces. That plans are afoot to create a hotel-lined promenade to lure Torremolinos-loving tourists doesn't bear thinking about. Savour the city's architecture and seafood before they arrive.
