Propaganda or lie? Undecided, I re-read the museum text: "Geologically speaking, the history of Los Alamos is vastly more explosive and cataclysmic than its better known, recent atomic past." More explosive and cataclysmic than nuclear war? Sceptically I read on. Massive volcanic explosions. Hundreds of cubic kilometres of ash. The sun obscured. For years. Grudgingly I accepted that Pajarito Plateau's creation probably was more violent than Hiroshima and Nagasaki's destruction. The result was certainly more scenic.
