Shaped like a piece of lichen, several of which I ate fried with garlic and egg while there, the province beyond mountainous Sichuan and Guizhou- the land "south of the clouds", as Yunnan literally translates - is China's natural, cultural and, arguably, culinary treasury. With a small group, make an epic journey by train, bus and taxi through Yunnan Province, from its capital, Kunming, to Zhongdian, on the Tibetan plateau.
